DAVAO CITY - Presidential son Deputy Speaker and Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte invites everyone to observe the 35th Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival by praying for the welfare of each and everyone.

This will be the first time for Davaoeños and spectators to celebrate Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival in their homes due to global crisis brought about by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Atong nasaksihan dili lamang ang pag-antos sa mga Dabawenyo karon na kita nakasinati og kalisod na dala sa pandemya kundili pati na sab ang pagtinabangay sa matag-usa,” Rep. Duterte said.

(We have witnessed not only the sacrifices of the Davaoeños, due to COVID pandemic, but also the bayanihan (sympathy and service) we rendered to each other, especially to those who are in need.)

Rep. Duterte also said that the culture of the Davaoeños will always be the same in terms of discipline, respect to each other, and for following the rules and regulations created for the welfare of everyone.

The young congressman expressed his gratitude to Lumad, Muslim, and Christian brothers and sisters for their continuous support to the local government and to the administration led by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Dungan kita sa pag-ampo sa kaayohan sa matag-usa kanato (Together, let us pray for the welfare of each and everyone). Happy Kadayawan sa tanan (everyone),” Rep. Duterte, to Davaoeños, said.

City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio earlier said in a radio program that the local government is pushing through with the online celebration only of Kadayawan due to the pandemic. The city has lined up Kadayawan activities which can be viewed at home through social media.

The Kadayawan is an annual celebration of the bountiful harvest and the cultural diversity of the indigenous peoples. The Davaoeños celebrates life, give thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, and the bounties of the year’s harvest.
